Purpose- 

 The mission of the Forensic Science Club at the University of Washington Bothell is to promote interest in forensics within the campus community through the use of films, lectures, outings, and other events.


About the club-

We cover topics relating to genes, DNA, forensic biology and so much more!

We have forensic and/or informative events, information based meetings, then we also have special meetings (special guest speaker and/ or a crossover with another club).

Why I started this club?

 Hi my name is Simarleen Dhillon, I am a rising 3rd year student at the University of Washington- Bothell campus. My major is Biology. I am the Founder and President of the UWB Forensic Science Club. On my team there is Milan Mar who is VP, there is Sofia Miyagi who is Treasurer, then there is Aina Sunagawa who is the Secretary, and last but not least we have David Garcia who s the Marketing and Publicity Officer.  I started this club because of my interest in Forensics. Specifically I love DNA, genes, genetics, forensics, etc.  I can't wait to see this club grow and see what amazing things we accomplish.

What happened until now?

 Here is a timeline of everything that happened this far in the club: In May 2021-    Started my club created an email list  Made the club insta account Had our first event to learn about officer positions had an officer selection process  made a club website made a club Spotify  started a list of events/meetings (not planned them out yet) Made a club discord  June 2021- selected officers created a logo for our club  made a officer "Meet the Team" post continued work on the list of events/meetings (not planned them out yet)

Club growth

 So it has been about 2 months since this club started and I can see a lot of growth already. Here are some of the highlights of the past 2 months: 34 insta followers on the club account 24 members on discord  17 students on the email list These are just some of the platforms, we are also on Spotify with a club playlist that we will pay at the start of events/meetings as people roll in, we also have a club website, and a UW presence page coming soon.  In May, we had our very first event which was the Q&A event. This wasn't a very successful event (only 3 students showed up), but I'm writing about it here because it was our first event. Students had the opportunity to learn about the club and about officer positions and also ask any questions they may have. This event was held on May 28th from 6-7 pm.
